Welcome to the website of Association Liberté Pour Chiens.  We work with dog refuges in Central Brittany, France to help re-home abandoned dogs or dogs which have been taken into the refuges because of maltreatment or neglect.

Our aim is to create a network of fosterers and prospective adopters through liaison with members of the British community living in this part of France

Liberte Pour Chiens is not a refuge. We work principally with the Refuge du Penthievre et du Mene, based at Brehand near Montcontour,  which is committed to finding new homes for unwanted or neglected dogs.

It is not our aim to replace the refuges, but to raise the profile of dogs waiting for adoption by placing their details in our advertisements in the Central Brittany Journal or on our Facebook page, thereby increasing their chances of being re-homed.

There are presently around 40 dogs in kennels at this location, all needing new foster families or, better still, permanent new homes.

To date, ALPC has assisted in the re-homing of some 130 dogs throughout Brittany and even in the UK.

If you’d like to help us, there are a number of ways that you can do so:

  • Make a donation
  • Become a member of ALPC and help spread the word
  • Give a dog a forever home
  • Foster a dog for a short time while preparation is being made for permanent re-homing.
